Commercial Director Benelux

Leadership

John Mangelaars was appointed CEO of Travix in February 2013, with the responsibility for leading the overall direction of the organization, bringing technology, Online and focus on customers together. Prior to joining Travix, John held senior leadership roles as Vice President Advertising & Online and General Manager, Field Strategy Information Worker Division at Microsoft. John formed a strong leadership team around him with talented leaders from companies like: Rank Group, Microsoft, T-Mobile, Swarovski and Ebookers


Commercial Director Benelux

At this moment we are hiring a Commercial Director Benelux to lead Travix’ brands in the Benelux (CheapTickets.nl/be, Vliegwinkel.nl and Budgetair.nl/be) to a sustainable and significant market position. This leading Commercial role reports to our Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and is a pipeline position to a bigger leadership post at Travix, for example the CCO position. In this exciting role you commercially lead a direct and indirect reporting team of commercial specialists to commercial success. You own the commercial P&L of the Benelux and you play your game in a very competitive arena with Airlines, META search parties and other OTA’s. You will be aiming for growth in retention, lower Customer Acquisition Costs and of course strong overall growth.

The Challenge

As the Commercial Director Benelux you will be challenged to establish a significant growth in our Benelux market positions. You are the leader in charge and you act as an entrepreneur who runs and builds the Benelux business within the global Travix business. For sure you can and will build on a global established platform with great technology and product. Your first main job will be to create a commercial plan with some big commercial, strategic components. This role offers a unique chance to truly take leadership in driving the successful growth of our business.


As this is a true commercial position within an already established business you will need to collaborate strongly with stakeholders and involved people to line them up for your key goals. As such you will lead directly a commercial team of marketing and sales professionals. Indirectly you will lead product, proposition, pricing and supply initiatives and hugely depend on your lateral leading skills.

Much of the success will depend on what you bring to the table. At the same time, you will be part of a global team of highly motivated and talented people. You will work closely with the Travix Leadership team to optimize the current solutions, define and execute the new strategy and propositions.

 

Responsibilities

This is a highly visible and leading role in the organization in which you are the key linking pin between multiple internal teams and external suppliers. Your main responsibilities include Commercial & Strategy Development, Operational Execution all with full P&L ownership.

 

Commercial & Strategy Development:

  • Commercial Strategy to lead the Dutch and Belgian market positions to the next phase: increased loyalty/retention, improved brand consideration and preference, strengthened structural position against META, Airlines and other OTAs, increased transparency in additional fees and pricing structures.

  • Determine and drive the overall proposition per brand and market

  • Lead innovation by testing and driving new commercial and/or product initiatives and concepts

 

Operational Execution:

  • Deliver on business plan and ensure proper management of initiatives and commercial actions based on data analyses.

  • Directly leading Commercial disciplines: distribution, performance marketing, content management campaign management. And build a strong team!

  • Indirectly lead product owners towards profitables products, Industry Relation managers towards profitable content, pricing towards the execution of a well balanced revenue management and pricing strategy

 

P&L:

  • Full ownership of all commercial KPI’s: double digit volume growth in a balancing act with Revenue KPIs, Acquisition & Campaign costs, people costs.

Your Profile

We are looking for a highly driven, ambitious candidate with Commercial development experience in (e)commerce.

·         Outstanding Master's degree: Marketing, MBA, Business, Economics

·         7 - 10 years of experience of which 3-5 years of work experience in a similar commercial job in an E-commerce/online marketing /Internet (air/ travel) environment

·         Track record in driving commercial results

·         Ability to think strategically and execute methodically; combined with strong commercial acumen;

·         familiar with Scrum / Agile (IT) development

·         Good verbal and written communications skills in English and Dutch;

·         Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where continuous change is desired;

·         Demonstrated ability to dive deep in understanding our business, our product and the competitive landscape

  • Business case presentation: You will be given an assignment to present a business case in front of our progress team. Stakeholders: selection of Progress Team

  • Reference checks: People team will request the details of several professional referees. These must be people who you either report to or have reported to in the past.

Offer & On boarding: When successfully completing the process, you will receive an offer for the position at hand. Thereafter, the on boarding process will commence.
