Job Purpose

As a Business Analyst for Rule Engines at Travix, you’ll be responsible for developing new business logic and enhancing existing rules through a variety of tools which help our business to keep pace with changing marketplace conditions and our customer’s needs. You will be the business facing owner of Travix’s rule engines.

You will spend your day speaking with the various business teams to understand their requirements. You will work alongside our pricing teams to help make our websites more profitable, with our product support teams to ensure we are compliant with the airline and industry regulations. You’ll work with our engineering teams to help determine how business rules should be implemented for new products and features and our financial teams to improve the accuracy of their data and reporting. 

In this role, you’ll be contributing to several major projects at any given time and be a critical link between the Travix colleagues driving our profits and those building our software and products.

Key Responsibilities

Maintaining and optimizing business rules:

  • Ownership of all our business rules engines, and the algorithms that sit within them
  • Collaborate closely with technology and business stakeholders to understand business requirements and tailor business logic to achieve company goals
  • Analysis of business rules artifacts (requirements documents, process maps).
  • Creation and modification, organization, optimization, testing and quality monitoring of business rules.
  • Monitoring, analysis, and interpretation of data.
  • Documentation of requirements and reports.
  • Engage with business users to improve our existing business rulesets

Contribute to improving foundations of business rule management in Travix:

  • Improve the current structuring of rulesets to assure quality, efficiency and scalability.
  • Own the current & new Rule Apps - manage, optimize and and create business documentation around them 
  • Assure standardized, effective and efficient rule management processes.
  • Implement a training program on rule management within Travix, to ensure a shared standardized way of working. 
  • Design & manage workshops and education around business rules for the technology teams.
  • Work with Analytics teams to improve reporting & analysis on rule management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Economics, Business or IT and +6 years experience (10 years of experience required if you don't hold a Master degree)
  • Coding skills: Basic understanding of programming language like SQL- Python is a plus
  • Commercial experience of applying data in driving business decisions
  • Experience in developing and maintaining Decision Management services / Decision Intelligence systems - InRule is highly preferred
  • Ability to interpret and simplify complex business requirements and discuss them with various stakeholders
  • Logic focused and with aptitude for statistics
  • Data driven, customer focused, proactive, creative and innovative
  • Pragmatic, disciplined, self driven and results-focused 
  • Experience of working in an agile product development environment, with the ability to adapt to rapidly evolving and changing business priorities
  • Team player who enjoys working in a fast paced team atmosphere
  • Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple priorities and commitments
  • The ability to communicate with different groups of people
  • Fluent written and spoken English is essential
