Job Purpose

As a Rule Engine Developer at Travix, you’ll be responsible for technical development, maintenance & management of new business logic and enhancing existing rules through a variety of tools which help our business to keep pace with changing marketplace conditions and our customer’s needs. You will be the technical owner of Travix’s rule engines.

You will identify and define sources of business rules, formulate business rules and express those using logical statements and classify the proposed rules and store them in a central repository or BRMS. You are required to update business rules to reflect changes, manage risks that could interfere with the implementation of business rules, maintain traceability of rules, research existing business rules, and ensure that business rules meet predefined quality criteria. Reporting of key activities and deliverables and to manage the complete lifecycle of rules.

In this role, you’ll be contributing to several major projects at any given time and be a critical link between those driving our profits and those building our software and products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Optimize the rule configuration with focus on improving usability and performance 
  • Perform impact analysis on the interfacing applications
  • Maintaining the operational testing environment and rule set version controls
  • Drive the InRule upgrade and participate end-to-end tests with the upgraded versions
  • Develop, test and debug business rules and logic to manage our products and features
  • Maintain responsibility for harvesting business rules and designing as part of performance improvement tasks
  • Manage, optimize and translate the existing Rule Apps - analyze current state and make changes, if required, to manage scalability
  • Be the sparring partner for the Rules Analyst
  • Understand technical documents and business requirements
  • Orchestrate workflows and design action and decision table rules
  • Maintain and enhance existing systems
  • Anticipate and mitigate risks, identifying areas for improvement
  • Work closely with the Product Owner, internal tech & non tech stakeholders to help "building the right thing right"
  • Provide technical support as required


  • Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems Engineering or any relevant discipline;
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in authoring and deploying rule engines for large-scale implementations for intermediate level / 6 to 10 years relevant experience for senior level
  • Strong proficiency in business rule management systems or rules engines such as JBoss, JRules, JPBM, iLog, Drools, etc.; - InRule is highly preferred
  • Proficiency in developing applications using C# .NET 
  • Coding skills: C# & .NET is essential and SQL & Python are desirable
  • Experience of working in an agile product development environment
  • Good understanding of business requirements
  • Accuracy and analytical skills.

What would be nice to have

  • Coding skills: Shell scripting, Javascript 
  • Experience in a CI/CD environment 
  • Experience working in Cloud environments - Google or Amazon platforms
  • Experience with Observability and APM tools to keep track rules performance
  • Experience with reporting solutions
