Team Lead Bookkeeping AP & AR (Non Travel)

We are looking for a toughened bookkeeper with great managerial skills and extensive bookkeeping experience. You will play a central role in creating and managing a new AP & AR team in Bangalore (India), further shaping the accounts receivable and accounts payable processes, while coordinating the daily accounting activities, making sure that these are done accurately and in a timely manner, managing the monthly, quarterly and yearly closing processes for AP & AR for both internal and external accountants.

Job Purpose

As Team Lead Bookkeeping AP & AR (Non Travel) you will lead (from The Netherlands) a team of 3 AP & AR associates situated in our Bangalore office in India.You will perform the month end closing in an accurate and timely manner cooperating closely with the Finance Operations Manager. You know how to structure and prioritize your work according to agreed deadlines. Besides the daily routines, there is a strong focus on improving processes thus we are looking for someone who takes ownership and works independently, is detailed, but can also take a step back to understand overall figures and processes. In this role, you will be reporting to the Finance Operations Manager who is responsible for all Travel and non Travel AP and AR processes. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day to day finance and accounting processes to ensure compliance with tax, legal and internal procedures
  • Constant insight in open positions on the General Ledger accounts within your AP AR responsibility area
  • Ensure processing of all incoming bank payments, booking of all AP invoices, creating AR invoices (and follow they are paid timely) and handle the outgoing payments in a timely matter
  • Leading a team of 3 members located in India
  • Month end close for multiple processes and legal entities in a complex multi currency environment- task performed with a close cooperation with Financial Controller, FP&A and other Accounting teams
  • Managing the quarterly and yearly closing processes for AP & AR for both internal and external accountants
  • Actively drive continuous process improvements and innovations
  • Involved in IT system improvement initiatives related to Invoicing processes.

What you bring to the table

  • Extensive experience in bookkeeping (7+years)
  • 3+ years in a leading role in a multi-entity environment.
  • Have completed education or courses in bookkeeping or accounting, or demonstrable work experience in lieu of a degree
  • Strong Excel knowledge
  • Great people and team leader with the focus on the development of the team
  • Strong communicator who is proactive, dynamic and willing to step in and help out when necessary
  • Accurate, analytical and an independent worker with multitask talent
  • A continuous improvement mindset unaccepting of the status quo and thinking out of the box. You enjoy implementing changes and you are enthusiastic about process and reporting improvements
  • A strong work ethic and ability to manage multiple competing priorities. 
  • Fluent in English
  • Experience within an internationally operating company - working with different cultures is prefered
  • Working in a hybrid model in our Amsterdam office & from home.
  • Knowledge of Unit4 Agresso is preferred
